Embedded Software Development Engineer – Industrial Applications

About the role

Join IMI's engineering unit located at Axis Parc, just outside Louvain‑La‑Neuve, to develop firmware for embedded systems used in hydronic heating and air‑conditioning solutions. You will work on IoT‑enabled devices that communicate via industrial protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for embedded hardware using C and Python.
• Break down product functionalities into tasks, perform technical analysis and estimate effort.
• Create test plans, unit tests, functional and non‑regression tests.
• Track bug reports, debug issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Document code and design decisions, and share knowledge within the team.
• Monitor emerging technologies and propose innovative improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on embedded development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Fluent English; French is a plus.
• Enthusiastic about collaborating with UI developers and industrial communication experts.

Required skills

• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus and KNX protocols (plus).
• IoT communication protocol integration.
