Data Engineer

About the role

Join Ember, an independent not‑for‑profit energy think tank, to help accelerate the clean energy transition. As a Data Engineer you will build and maintain data pipelines that feed Ember’s world‑leading datasets on electricity generation, renewable capacity, and related topics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new ETL scripts in Python to gather and validate data from APIs, web scraping and other sources.
• Deploy and orchestrate ETL workflows on Ember’s data platform using Dagster and BigQuery.
• Run, maintain, and improve existing data pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Apply best coding and data practices to guarantee high‑quality outputs.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience developing and deploying Python code.
• Proficiency with SQL databases and data transformation.
• Strong attention to detail and systematic work style.
• Fluent spoken and written English and a passion for clean energy.
