Competition Counsel – EU (Brussels)

About the role

Amazon is seeking an experienced Competition Counsel to join its legal team in Brussels. You will work at the intersection of competition law and Amazon’s European consumer business, providing strategic advice to senior leadership and shaping the company’s long‑term approach to novel regulatory challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead competition and related regulatory matters across the EU and its member states, coordinating with local legal teams.
• Advise business units and senior leaders on competition issues affecting Amazon’s operations in Europe.
• Develop and influence Amazon’s long‑term strategy on high‑impact, emerging competition topics.
• Engage with public policy teams, regulators, and policymakers on a broad range of competition matters.
• Contribute to the EU Competition team’s training, compliance programs, and cross‑functional coordination mechanisms.

Required profile

• Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic credentials.
• Minimum 7 years of experience practicing competition law, including handling regulatory and enforcement matters.
• Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice to senior business leaders.
• Strong judgment, independence, and capability to navigate ambiguous situations.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of EU competition law and enforcement procedures.
• Experience managing cross‑border competition cases.
• Excellent collaboration and relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
