AV Engineer: Autonomous Vehicle System and Control

About the role

Aidoptation develops autonomous driving software for high-speed (120 kph) driving, with its EdgeDrive stack built on deterministic, rule-based control. It holds the first authorisation to test Level 4 autonomy on public highways up to the speed limit. This role works across the planning-to-control stack for highway autonomy, from trajectory planning through vehicle dynamics and control, helping design and implement real-time algorithms that keep the vehicle safe, stable and predictable at high speed.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time algorithms that connect planning outputs to vehicle actuators
• Own validation across simulation, SIL/HIL and on-vehicle testing, working with planning, perception, localization and systems engineers
• Handle hands-on vehicle integration, edge-case analysis and test campaigns, with occasional travel depending on testing needs

Required profile

• MSc in Robotics, Computer Science, Control, Mechanical, Automotive or similar
• At least 2 years of relevant industry or research experience
• Right to work in the EU; visa sponsorship is not available
• Startup mentality: ownership, speed, hands-on approach and high standards
• Fluent English (Dutch is a plus)

Required skills

• Experience with motion planning, vehicle dynamics control, stability, control theory, Kalman filtering and MPC control
• Proficiency in modern C++ and Python, and/or MATLAB/Simulink, with disciplined software engineering and testing practices
• Comfortable in Linux environments and ROS 2 (required)
• Nice to have: hard real-time systems, embedded software integration, scenario-based testing and simulation platforms (SIL and basic HIL), CAN and automotive interfaces, AUTOSAR and ISO 26262
