Assistant Professor (Tenure‑Track) in Accounting

About the role

Ghent University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor in Accounting on a five‑year tenure‑track basis. The position starts on 1 September 2027 and combines high‑quality teaching with independent, internationally recognised research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in Commercial Sciences (Dutch) and master‑level courses in Business Economics, major Accountancy (English).
• Develop and lead innovative research projects in areas such as Accounting Education, Information Systems, Auditing, Financial Reporting, and Social & Environmental Accounting.
• Publish in leading peer‑reviewed journals, secure research funding, and supervise master’s and doctoral theses.
• Contribute to departmental, faculty and university service, and engage with external academic and societal partners.

Required profile

• Strong international academic CV with publications and presentations in Accounting.
• Proven ability to obtain research funding and supervise graduate students.
• Positive teaching evaluations and willingness to teach in Dutch (reach CEFR B2 within 5 years) and English (CEFR C1).
• Collaborative attitude, leadership potential and experience in academic networking.
