Application Architect (Java/Spring Boot)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect specialized in Java and Spring Boot to join a Big 4 consultancy project. The role focuses on evaluating and improving a complex application solution that includes both transactional and batch processing workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Assess overall performance of the application for user transactions and batch jobs.
• Analyse the micro‑services decomposition regarding functional responsibilities, inter‑application flows, and consistency constraints.
• Identify root causes of performance issues, excessive coupling, or database contention.
• Evaluate transactional robustness and data‑consistency management in distributed environments, including choreography, outbox/inbox patterns, and idempotency.
• Review resilience and observability levels (monitoring, metrics, logs, traceability, recovery) against SPW requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to lead complex audit engagements (T4 – Expert).
• Experience with distributed consistency patterns (T4 – Expert).
• Proven expertise in micro‑services architectures (T4 – Expert).
• Strong executive reporting and synthesis skills (T4 – Expert).
• Mastery of Java / Spring Boot (T4 – Expert).
