Workflow Management Architect – Brussels (near-site)

About the role

We are looking for a Workflow Management Architect to join our team on a near‑site basis in Brussels. You will be responsible for maintaining and evolving our Activiti and Camunda workflow engines while ensuring stability and continuity of the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance Activiti and Camunda workflow engines, ensuring backward compatibility with the legacy Compass Green system.
• Implement functional enhancements, technical migrations, performance improvements and corrective changes.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of production incidents and deliver code‑level fixes.
• Address technical debt through refactoring, library upgrades and SQL optimisation.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and prepare deployment packages for production.
• Participate in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives and technical alignment meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of post‑secondary education (diploma required).
• At least 3 years of professional experience in workflow management or related software development.
• Fluent English (C1 level) for all communications.

Required skills

• Workflow engines: Activiti, Camunda, Compass Green.
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, Axon, WebLogic 14, JAX‑RS, JAX‑WS, JAXB, EJB, JMS.
• API design: RESTful services, OpenAPI/Swagger, Consul, API Gateways, CAPI Gateway.
• Cloud: AWS (including CloudFront).
• Frontend: HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS3, SASS, Angular (Signals), Web Components, micro‑frontends, state‑management patterns.
• Security: OpenID Connect, JWT.
