Virtual Reality Developer – CBRN Training Project

About the role

The Royal Military Academy is seeking a full‑time Virtual Reality Developer to join the RadTrainER project. This research position focuses on creating a stand‑alone VR environment that trains military operators for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop a virtual reality training environment using industry‑standard tools.
• Integrate VR accessories and support multiple simultaneous users.
• Implement CBRN‑specific features and ensure the final product is user‑friendly for non‑technical operators.
• Collaborate with other departments of the Defence Laboratories (DLD) and contribute to scientific research reports.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Junior (0‑3 years) or experienced (3+ years) candidates are welcome.
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
• Ability to obtain Belgian Defence security clearance and meet nationality requirements (EU & NATO member).
