Transport Specialist

About the role

Our client, a leading cooperative chartering organization in European inland waterway logistics, is looking for a Transport Specialist to manage transport orders and chartering activities. Based near Antwerp, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient vessel allocation and maintaining strong customer and member relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Execute transport orders and chartering activities, guaranteeing proper scheduling and vessel allocation.
• Optimize utilization of affiliated members’ vessels and coordinate with chartering desk colleagues.
• Assign vessels, support vessel planning, and ensure timely written quotations.
• Maintain compliance with quality management systems and GMP+ feed‑safety regulations.
• Contribute to acquiring new customers, retaining existing ones, and preparing quotations.
• Monitor developments in inland shipping and manage member communications, complaints, and fair distribution of assignments.
• Participate in member‑related events and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

Required profile

• Strong communication and administrative abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for variety and teamwork.
• Excellent service orientation for customers and inland shipping entrepreneurs.
• Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written) and proficient in French.
• Based near Antwerp, Belgium.

Required skills

• Fluent Dutch language skills.
• Strong knowledge of French.
