Tax Consultant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Consultant to lead our Belgian VAT compliance and statutory accounting activities. The successful candidate will ensure accurate filing of VAT returns, maintain financial records, and act as the primary liaison with tax authorities and auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual VAT returns in line with Belgian tax legislation.
• Reconcile VAT accounts, resolve discrepancies and maintain up‑to‑date financial records.
• Compile annual financial statements and support year‑end closing processes.
• Communicate with Belgian tax authorities and external auditors, providing required documentation and responses.
• Monitor changes in Belgian tax law and implement necessary compliance updates.
• Support VAT audits, respond to queries and ensure complete audit trails.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Belgian VAT regulations and statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to manage VAT filings, reconciliations and year‑end processes.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting standards and interaction with tax authorities.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in INTERVAT for electronic VAT submission.
• Expertise in VAT filing, validation and compliance under Belgian law.
