Storage Backup Administrator

About the role

The Storage Backup Administrator is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and security of the organisation's data‑center storage and backup infrastructure. You will work closely with IT teams to maintain high availability of critical services and to support ongoing upgrades and optimisations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer ICT components related to hosting services, including servers, enclosures, UPS, patch panels and tape libraries.
• Install, configure, upgrade and test infrastructure software such as monitoring solutions and backup platforms.
• Manage and optimise NetApp environments, including MetroCluster configurations.
• Maintain EMC VMAX/PMAX, HDS, HP and IBM storage systems.
• Oversee Pure Storage solutions and build VMware vSphere clusters.
• Administer backup infrastructure using NetBackup and Veritas Pure Disk Appliance.
• Analyse the storage environment, provide recommendations and implement improvements while minimising service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with organisational procedures to guarantee data integrity and security.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering data‑center storage and backup systems.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing storage performance and capacity.
• Ability to plan and schedule installations to limit impact on production services.
• Solid understanding of IT security and disaster‑recovery principles.
