Statistician for Biostatistics Unit

About the role

The Biostatistics Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a statistician to provide statistical advice, data analysis and guidance to researchers and students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake and advisory meetings, translate research questions into study designs and analysis plans.
• Support grant applications and study protocols with sample size calculations, randomisation, and drafting statistical analysis plans.
• Perform statistical analyses for clinical and epidemiological studies and clearly report results.
• Guide master’s students on statistical aspects of their dissertations.
• Work reproducibly using R, Quarto/R Markdown and Git, documenting code for team use.
• Contribute to scientific publications and assist with training initiatives such as statistics workshops.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Thorough knowledge of statistical methods used in medical and health research.
• Proficiency in English (Dutch is an asset).
• Ability to explain statistical concepts clearly to non‑statisticians.
• Accurate, independent work style with good team collaboration.

Required skills

• R programming.
• Quarto/R Markdown.
• Version control with Git.
• Experience with SPSS or SAS (asset).
