About the role
The Office of Strategic Communications at NATO is looking for a dynamic Social Media Officer to champion a digital‑first culture across NATO’s official channels. You will create engaging content, monitor trends, and help the Alliance meet its strategic communication objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Manage selected @NATO social media accounts and provide backup for other channels.
- Plan, create, post and monitor daily content, handling community management autonomously.
- Identify and implement paid‑advertising opportunities aligned with NATO priorities.
- Lead communication projects for ministerial meetings, summits, campaigns and large‑scale events.
- Collaborate with the Head of Social Media and the Social Media Manager to shape channel strategy.
Required profile
- University degree in communications, international affairs or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience managing multiple social media platforms.
- Strong political awareness and ability to produce creative, relevant content for diverse audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in one NATO official language (English or French) and beginner level in the other.

- Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok.
- Social media monitoring and assessment tools.
- Basic picture and video editing.
- Simple graphic design.
