Senior Underwriter, Casualty

About the role

AIG Europe S.A., the Belgian branch of American International Group, is hiring a Senior Underwriter for its Casualty (General Insurance) function in Brussels. The role covers major and middle-market general ledger business and is based primarily in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Study, analyse, manage and quote general ledger major and middle market business in line with AIG guidelines, authorities, strategy, processes and tools
• Manage, analyse and defend an existing portfolio of business
• Build up a profitable book of new business
• Prepare risk referrals for new and existing business
• Handle rater tools and prepare booking instructions
• Participate in client and broker meetings
• Monitor the portfolio in relation to claims
• Handle the commercial relationship with clients and brokers
• Give presentations, trainings and take care of internal and external networking
• Invest in underwriting excellence initiatives

Required profile

• Relevant experience in the insurance environment
• Dutch/French and English language capabilities
• Commercial and analytical skills
• Structured, organized, open-minded, flexible, good communication skills and a team player
