Senior System Engineer – Virtualization (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Engineer with deep expertise in virtualization to join a globally distributed engineering team. The role is fully remote and focuses on designing, operating, and continuously improving enterprise‑grade VMware and Microsoft Hyper‑V environments that support high‑availability digital products used by millions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and administer VMware (ESXi, vCenter) and Microsoft Hyper‑V platforms.
• Manage Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure (vSAN) and traditional SAN‑based storage, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Lead lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, migrations, and hybrid/cloud integration.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and apply reliability engineering practices.
• Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, networking, and support teams to resolve production incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Implement storage, backup, and disaster‑recovery solutions following enterprise best practices.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and continuously improve operational procedures.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization technologies at enterprise scale.
• Proven track record with VMware vSAN deployment, administration, and performance tuning.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Hyper‑V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).
• Deep understanding of virtual networking concepts (vSwitches, Distributed Switches, VLANs, NIC teaming, segmentation).
• Practical knowledge of SAN storage technologies (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, FCoE).
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, Bash).
