Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Linux (Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Engineer to join a long‑term freelance project in Ghent. The role sits within a technical R&D team developing low‑level, Linux‑based software for next‑generation connected products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded Linux applications and drivers.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to integrate software with custom platforms.
• Develop and optimise performance‑critical code in C/C++.
• Debug and troubleshoot system‑level issues across the full software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team using modern development tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Embedded Linux development.
• Strong C and C++ programming skills.
• Hands‑on experience working close to hardware and embedded platforms.
• Familiarity with drivers, interfaces, and communication protocols.
• Ability to work independently in a freelance capacity and contribute to a collaborative team.
