Senior Software Engineer - Automation

About the role

imec is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead automation initiatives across its software delivery lifecycle. You will help turn manual processes into repeatable, reliable, and automated workflows that support cutting‑edge R&D projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evolve CI/CD pipelines that automate building, testing, scanning and deployment.
• Automate release workflows, versioning, artifact management and environment promotion with quality gates.
• Develop reusable pipeline templates, golden paths and self‑service tooling for engineering teams.
• Orchestrate complex engineer workflows, ensuring reliable job execution, retries, observability and state management.
• Implement containerization strategies and cloud‑native deployments that are reproducible and automation‑friendly.
• Contribute to architectural decisions to guarantee scalability, security, resilience and operability by default.
• Maintain full‑stack applications while embedding automation and quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience in building and maintaining large‑scale automation platforms.
• Strong understanding of software delivery pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Ability to translate R&D processes into auditable, maintainable automated workflows.
• Experience working in a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary research environment.
