Senior Mobile Developer – Freelance (12‑month) – Brussels

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Developer on a freelance basis to join a mission‑critical team in Brussels for a 12‑month engagement. You will be responsible for the user‑facing layer of the My Citizen Profile platform, which serves hundreds of thousands of Flemish citizens daily.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, build and publish native Android and iOS applications.
• Maintain the highest standards of quality, accessibility (WCAG) and UI consistency.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary Scrum team, Product Owner and technical experts.
• Integrate Flemish, local and federal components both technically and visually.
• Apply design‑system and component‑architecture principles for scalable solutions.
• Use automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and digital service delivery.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience developing native mobile apps for Android and iOS.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.
• Hands‑on experience with Git, testing, code profiling and issue‑management tools.
• Experience with automated mobile testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
• Experience with Vue.js and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Background in working within a design system.
• Fluency in Dutch (CEFR C2) and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT.
• Signed NDA, Agile/Scrum experience; government‑sector experience is a plus.
