Senior Internal Auditor – Brussels

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join a leading European financial institution in Brussels. You will lead the full audit cycle, ensuring operational effectiveness, financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and oversee the complete audit process, including risk management and control assessments.
• Define audit scope and develop annual audit plans aligned with business objectives.
• Collect, analyse, and evaluate accounting documentation, prior audit reports, data sets, and process flowcharts.
• Prepare and present clear audit reports and process documentation to management and the audit committee.
• Identify gaps, propose mitigation actions, and monitor cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Maintain open communication with senior management and the audit committee.
• Document processes, prepare audit findings memoranda, and conduct follow‑up audits to verify corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an auditor, preferably in a financial institution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Fluency in French, Dutch and English.
• Strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and sound independent judgement.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Competence in handling databases.
