Senior Internal Auditor – Brussels

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join a leading European financial institution in Brussels. The role involves overseeing the complete audit cycle, ensuring operational effectiveness, financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and supervise the full audit cycle, including risk management and control assessments.
• Define audit scope and develop annual audit plans.
• Collect, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, prior audit reports, data sets and process flowcharts.
• Prepare and present clear audit reports and process documentation.
• Identify gaps, propose mitigation actions and cost‑reduction measures.
• Maintain communication with management and the audit committee.
• Document processes and draft audit findings memoranda.
• Conduct follow‑up audits to verify implementation of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an auditor.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Fluency in French, Dutch and English.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities and independent judgement.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Experience with databases.
