Senior Director, Data Platform & Engineering

About the role

This senior leadership position sits at the heart of a large‑scale data ecosystem in Belgium. You will shape the infrastructure and engineering systems that enable enterprise‑wide decision‑making across marketing, finance, product, sales, HR and customer success.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic direction for the enterprise data platform and engineering organizations.
• Own a multi‑quarter roadmap covering modernization, stability, security and enablement of data infrastructure.
• Drive large‑scale platform evolution across Snowflake, AWS, GCP, Airflow, dbt and ingestion frameworks, including cloud migration and system consolidation.
• Oversee data architecture strategy, data lake design, governance frameworks, observability systems and cost‑optimization initiatives.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of data pipelines that power analytics, reporting and operational workflows.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability and operational excellence.
• Partner with business and technical leaders to translate enterprise needs into scalable data capabilities.
• Lead vendor strategy, including build‑vs‑buy decisions and contract negotiations.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms or analytics engineering.
• 4+ years in senior leadership (Director level or above) with proven ability to scale large engineering teams (15+ people).
• Demonstrated experience aligning technical execution with business priorities.
