Senior Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a stable and growing company in Bruges to recruit a Senior Accountant who will take ownership of key finance processes, improve procedures and act as a pillar within the finance team. This role goes beyond pure accounting, offering responsibility for closing, reporting and supporting the business while helping to professionalise the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and yearly closings, preparing statutory financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, perform reconciliations and manage VAT, tax and statutory filings.
• Support management reporting, conduct balance sheet and P&L analysis, and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Strengthen internal controls, act as the main contact for auditors and external partners, and ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and internal policies.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, helping to optimise workflows and systems.

Required profile

• 4–8 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a multi‑entity or audit environment.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and experience with statutory reporting.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English.
