Senior Accountant – Freelance (Bruges)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a financially strong, fast‑growing company on a long‑term freelance basis. Based in Bruges, you will act as a true business partner, influencing financial performance and reporting quality during a key transformation phase.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and yearly closing processes.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and tax declarations.
• Ensure accurate Belgian GAAP reporting (IFRS knowledge is a plus).
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations and conduct P&L analysis.
• Support audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Optimize accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Coach junior team members when required.
• Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and ERP improvement projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP.
• Background in complex environments such as SMEs, scale‑ups or international groups.
• Hands‑on, autonomous work style with a strong analytical mindset.
• Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English.
• Available immediately or on short notice.
