Senior Accountant (Belgian GAAP, IFRS, SAP, VAT)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our international organisation and take ownership of key accounting activities for the Belgian entity. This interim position offers the chance to work independently, improve processes, and support a dynamic, cross‑border environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting, including general ledger, accounts receivable and financial reconciliations.
• Own monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing activities.
• Prepare statutory and management reports, including balance‑sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed‑asset accounting, covering capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Prepare and review Belgian VAT returns and support EU VAT compliance.
• Support corporate tax reporting and statutory obligations.
• Handle Intrastat reporting and other regulatory filings.
• Assist audit activities and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations with international entities.
• Support ERP master data management and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification.
• 5+ years of accounting experience within a Belgian environment.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
• Deep understanding of Belgian VAT principles and reporting processes.
• Experience supporting Belgian tax compliance activities.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
