Safety Department Manager

About the role

The Safety Department Manager will lead Group‑level safety governance for John Cockerill, acting as the primary link between the Corporate Safety function and the various business units. The role is dedicated to defining, promoting and deploying the Group Safety strategy while fostering a shared safety culture across all sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Define, promote and implement the Group Safety strategy.
• Lead and coordinate the Business Safety representatives network (SHEES), expanding it from 15‑20 to around 30 members.
• Harmonise safety standards, methodologies and best practices at Group level.
• Ensure ethics, compliance and correct application of Group safety policies.
• Act as the right‑hand to the Director of Group Safety and serve as potential successor.
• Deputise for the Director during international missions, represent the function on employee‑relation bodies and present to the Management Board when required.
• Maintain close coordination with the Corporate Environment function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety management within an industrial or multinational environment.
• Strong leadership and governance skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse business units.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Readiness to act as deputy for senior safety leadership and to represent the function externally.
