Road Design Engineer

About the role

Jan De Nul is looking for a Road Design Engineer to create and optimise 3‑D road models for infrastructure projects. You will translate complex designs into actionable BIM models that support accurate cost estimation and on‑site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse and refine 3‑D road models in line with project guidelines and temporary phasing.
• Build and manage detailed BIM models, coordinating with other disciplines.
• Prepare layout plans, longitudinal and cross‑section drawings based on accurate input data.
• Process topographical data, terrain measurements and point clouds into usable designs.
• Provide data for machine‑control systems to ensure precise execution on site.
• Calculate quantities such as earthworks, volumes and surfaces for tenders and execution.
• Maintain administrative tasks (daily reports, plan overviews) and flag issues to the project team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Construction) or equivalent.
• Fluent in Dutch with basic knowledge of French.
• Ability to work independently and in a structured, accurate manner.
• Motivated graduates are welcome; relevant experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM and 3‑D road design software.
• Experience processing topographical data, terrain measurements and point clouds.
• Quantity calculation for earthworks and volumes.
• Preparation of design plans and layout drawings.
