About the role

Google is seeking a Regulatory Counsel specializing in content law to join its Global Regulatory Affairs team for the EMEA region. You will provide subject‑matter expertise on EU content regulations, interpret new legislation, and partner with internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risk.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and interpret EU content laws such as the Digital Services Act, Audiovisual Media Services Directive and European Media Freedom Act.
• Translate compliance obligations into actionable requirements for Business, Product and Engineering teams.
• Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to reduce regulatory risk.
• Manage discussions, negotiations and disclosures with government agencies and regulators.
• Support product launches by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and external commitments.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B. or equivalent degree, admitted to the bar in an EU member state.
• At least 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law‑firm settings.
• Demonstrated experience with EU‑level content regulation (e.g., Digital Services Act).
• Proven ability to engage with regulators and develop compliance programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail and investigative skills.
