Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Plant

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Quality Engineer for its production plant in Jumet, near Charleroi. The role is hands-on and on-site, acting as the voice of the customer and a key driver of quality culture, leading problem-solving, operational quality assurance and continuous improvement across the plant and supply base. It is full time, with occasional domestic and international travel (about 10%).

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end customer complaint resolution, root-cause analysis and CAPA with closed-loop feedback.
• Manage internal and supplier nonconformities, including rapid containment, risk assessment and structured problem solving (8D, 5-Why).
• Oversee deviation and waiver requests, assess risks and implement mitigations.
• Plan and run product, process and internal audits (including GQSA), track and close findings, and support external and ISO audits.
• Maintain the local QMS/IMS aligned with ISO 9001, own ADONIS documentation and deliver quality training.
• Drive Cost of Poor Quality reduction through improvement projects, report KPIs and share lessons learned.
• Coach teams on APQP, SPC, MSA, capability analysis and Six Sigma, and promote a strong safety, integrity and quality culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-10+ years of manufacturing quality experience in lean/QMS environments.
• Experience with supplier quality, nonconformities, deviations and audits.
• Fluent spoken and written French and English.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and to live the company's values of safety and integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 8D, APQP, SPC, sampling, process capability and PFMEA; Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Solid metrology and MSA knowledge.
