Proximity Communication Officer

About the role
As a Proximity Communication Officer based in Wallonia, you will protect Elia’s reputation by managing communication around new grid infrastructure projects and the existing electricity network. Working closely with technical teams and local authorities, you will foster transparent dialogue with external stakeholders and contribute to the reliable, sustainable delivery of energy infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Define and implement communication strategies for infrastructure projects and ongoing grid operations, aligned with corporate strategy.
- Develop detailed communication plans, outlines and tools to anticipate stakeholder concerns.
- Act as spokesperson and primary contact for local press on designated projects.
- Monitor press coverage and social‑media discussions related to projects and grid issues.
- Organise and deliver communication training for internal teams preparing for public information sessions.
- Maintain continuous dialogue with external stakeholders throughout project lifecycles, ensuring local context is understood and risks are mitigated.
Required profile
- Proven ability to safeguard corporate reputation through strategic communication.
- Experience building and maintaining long‑term relationships with external stakeholders, especially in the energy or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of local contexts and the capacity to translate them into effective communication actions.
- Ability to anticipate risks and keep relevant audiences well informed.
