Process Engineer Manufacturing

About the role

Lonza, a global life sciences company, is looking for a Process Engineer Manufacturing to join its Engineering team in Bornem. The engineer supports site Operations, R&D and Quality in executing improvement plans using Six Sigma, Lean and other methodologies to improve overall business performance. A Master's degree in Engineering Sciences (Civil Engineer) is required.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust process parameters in consultation with production management, using instructions and follow-up tools
• Prioritize activities for production machine changes and special productions (size/bar changes, supros, special lengths)
• Discuss the shift report with the production shift supervisor and start actions where appropriate, and hold daily meetings with production and M&E departments
• Inspect and follow up hard gelatin capsule machines for quality and quantity, and delegate actions such as dimensional control, humidity and weight parameters, and HCM set-point changes to day workers
• Maintain close contact with production operators, mechanics and QA engineers, explaining procedures and empowering them
• Supervise the cleanliness and hygiene (GMP) of the production room and correct it where vital
• Monitor process capabilities and act where needed, standardizing processes
• Train new operators and colleagues in capsule production and procedures, including the importance of capsule quantity
• Propose and implement process changes and programs according to the quality plan, capital plan, HFC program, HCM speed program and others

Required profile

• Master's degree in Engineering Sciences (Civil Engineer)
• Fluent in both English and Dutch
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Nice to have: engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment, project development and implementation experience, knowledge of continuous improvement, and preferably a Green Belt certification
