About the role
The Political Affairs Intern will support the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary‑General for Children and Armed Conflict in Brussels. This unpaid, full‑time position lasts six months and involves research, monitoring, and drafting of various UN documents.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research on political, security and humanitarian issues related to children in armed conflict.
- Monitor and report on EU and Human Rights Council discussions relevant to the mandate.
- Attend conferences and meetings, taking detailed notes.
- Assist in organising and servicing conferences and meetings.
- Prepare reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points and articles.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
- Fluency in both English and French; Spanish is desirable.
- Demonstrated interest in UN work and commitment to its Charter ideals.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Required skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications.
