Policy Editor (EU Newsroom)

About the role

POLITICO is looking for an editor to lead a team covering EU policy in its Brussels newsroom. The editor produces a daily newsletter, breaking news and high-impact stories from a team of expert journalists, inspiring reporters to cover the high-level political priorities behind EU policymaking while catering to a sophisticated audience of subscribers for POLITICO Pro. This is a busy, hands-on editing job running one of POLITICO's flagship subscription products.

Key responsibilities

• Set the direction for daily coverage
• Line edit a daily newsletter
• Manage and edit a small team of reporters working on both subscription and free-to-read products
• Generate distinctive and innovative ways to tell stories

Required profile

• Demonstrable interest in EU politics and policy
• Strong track record of sharp editing and excellent news judgment
• Proven leadership skills and a track record in news reporting
• Ability to connect Europe's policy news with the politics of the continent
• Knowledge of the food and agriculture sector is a bonus

Required skills

• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Strong attention to detail and confidence in digging into policy coverage in depth
• Comfortable working at speed and developing longer-term projects
