Pharmaceutical Scientist – Peptides (Discovery Pharmaceutics)

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Pharmaceutical Scientist specialized in peptides to join the Discovery Pharmaceutics team in Beerse, Belgium. The role focuses on advancing peptide‑based drug candidates from hit‑to‑lead through candidate selection, integrating rigorous experimentation with quantitative analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to generate developability data for peptide molecules.
• Develop and qualify assays for peptide stability, solubility, solid‑state behavior, and delivery strategies.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, Safety, and Development.
• Interpret data to support optimal molecule design and rational formulation decisions.
• Contribute to capability building within the peptide research program.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent experience in pharmaceutical sciences, peptide chemistry, or related field.
• Strong quantitative and analytical mindset.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary, collaborative environments.
• Ability to translate scientific data into actionable development strategies.
