Patent Litigation Associate Lawyer – Brussels

About the role

Our client, a leading international intellectual property law firm, is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate to join its Brussels office. The role offers the chance to work on high‑stakes, cross‑border patent disputes for clients in life sciences, electronics and telecommunications, including matters before the Unified Patent Court.

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions and other court documents for multi‑jurisdictional patent infringement and revocation proceedings.
• Develop and implement case strategies, manage evidence and coordinate discovery across international offices.
• Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio strength, freedom‑to‑operate and regulatory issues to global pharmaceutical, biotech and technology clients.
• Participate in pioneering UPC cases, leveraging the firm’s early‑mover advantage.
• Collaborate closely with specialised patent attorneys and lawyers in other jurisdictions to deliver cohesive legal and technical solutions.

Required profile

• 1–5 years post‑qualification experience in intellectual property with a focus on patent litigation.
• Qualified to practice law in Belgium.
• Native‑level fluency in Dutch and/or French and professional‑level English (C1/C2).
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex technical innovations into clear legal arguments.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UPC procedures and cross‑border IP litigation.
