Part‑time Academic Position in Law of Obligations

About the role
UCLouvain is seeking a part‑time (50%) academic to join its Faculty of Law at the Saint‑Louis campus in Brussels. The position combines teaching, research and community service in the field of law of obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Teach Bachelor‑level courses on law of obligations and legal methodology, including daytime, evening and Saturday classes.
- Conduct research within the IRIS‑L Institute and the Centre for Private Law, supervise theses, and secure external funding from national and European sources.
- Participate in collaborative projects, serve on programme committees, examination boards and other institutional bodies, and contribute to societal outreach.
Required profile
- PhD in Law or Legal Science with a doctoral thesis focused on law of obligations.
- Proven university teaching experience, preferably with large lecture audiences and positive evaluations.
- Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals or edited volumes on private law.
- Ability to obtain research funding and manage research teams.
Required skills
- Advanced public speaking and teaching skills.
- Proficiency with digital teaching tools and artificial intelligence applications in legal education.
