About the role

We are seeking a full‑time researcher to join the Communication, Information, Systems and Sensors department at the Royal Military Academy. The role focuses on the RADsorb project, developing advanced stealth metasurfaces for next‑generation unmanned aerial systems under the “loyal wingman” concept.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and analyse user requirements, especially frequency‑band specifications for stealth performance.
• Conduct literature reviews and refine metasurface designs using electromagnetic simulation tools.
• Perform high‑frequency measurements of prototype samples in a fully equipped anechoic chamber to validate radar cross‑section and electromagnetic behaviour.
• Collaborate with industrial partners, including Sabca, and other project partners responsible for manufacturing and system integration.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering sciences or applied physics with a strong background in RF and electromagnetism.
• Ideally three years of relevant experience, though motivated recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary academic‑industry environment.

Required skills

• Electromagnetic simulation using Ansys HFSS (experience with CST or FEKO is a plus).
• Hands‑on RF measurement techniques and understanding of RF systems.
• Knowledge of radar systems and radar cross‑section analysis.
