Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

SII Belgium is looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to develop innovative mechanical solutions for aerospace and defence clients. You will work on the design, analysis and optimisation of systems such as brakes, steering, hydraulics, pneumatics and suspension.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and detail concepts using hand calculations and Finite Element Method (FEM) analyses.
• Design new components and improve existing mechanical systems (brake, steering, hydraulics, pneumatics, suspension).
• Generate design substantiation through analyses and complex test setups.
• Prepare compliance demonstration reports in English.
• Coordinate with suppliers for technical specifications and support.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive or Aviation/Aerospace design or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SOLIDWORKS or CATIA) and familiarity with FMEA, strength calculations and FEM.
• Strong written communication skills in French; English required, Dutch a plus.
• Experience with compliance demonstration or certification is preferred.
