Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a client in the automotive sector. You will work on the design and development of air, cooling, and hydrogen systems for a variety of in‑house and customer projects, contributing to sustainable mobility solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define project requirements and translate them into clear system specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies to assess technical scope and complexity.
• Develop design concepts that balance application needs with system‑level requirements.
• Use advanced modelling and simulation tools for concept validation.
• Create detailed part designs considering performance, cost, mass, NVH, safety and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with simulation teams to analyse system‑level and detailed designs.
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise designs for production.
• Release 2D drawings, monitor manufacturing processes and assess part quality at delivery.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and improve system integration.
• Produce detailed 3D models and perform engineering studies (strength, clearance, fastening, etc.).

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• Ability to perform basic mechanical and thermodynamic calculations.
• Experience reading, creating and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of fuel‑cell module working principles.
• Familiarity with manufacturing technologies and design constraints.
• Strong teamwork and problem‑solving mindset.
