Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical/E&I – Freelance – Antwerp

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to support reliability and maintenance activities at a chemical production site in the Antwerp region. The role is freelance and based on‑site, requiring close collaboration with operations and maintenance teams in a live production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support maintenance and reliability activities across the chemical production site.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical or instrumentation issues.
• Analyse faults and apply structured problem‑solving approaches.
• Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Investigate recurring technical issues and contribute to long‑term improvements.
• Coordinate with technicians and contractors during maintenance and shutdown activities.

Required profile

• Background in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance environments.
• Practical troubleshooting mindset with structured problem‑solving ability.
• Experience in chemical, process or heavy‑industrial settings is preferred.
• Comfortable working on‑site within an operational production plant.
• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse teams.
• Dutch language proficiency required.
