IT System Administrator – Hybrid (Brussels)

About the role

The European Institution is seeking an experienced IT System Administrator to manage and optimise its data‑center infrastructure in Brussels. The role combines hands‑on technical work with responsibility for service continuity, security and performance, operating in a hybrid model with three days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose and resolve system‑related incidents.
• Install, configure and upgrade infrastructure software, including monitoring solutions.
• Plan and test upgrades to minimise service disruption.
• Schedule installation work and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Monitor hardware and software health, performing proactive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with organisational procedures for system integrity and security.
• Install, maintain and support data‑center hardware such as servers, enclosures, UPS, patch panels, tape libraries and cabling.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of data‑center hardware infrastructure.
• Strong expertise in Windows and Linux server operating systems.
• Proficiency with hypervisor platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Experience with network storage solutions (SAN/NAS, NetApp, EMC).
• Understanding of central backup technologies.
• Ability to work independently and handle advanced troubleshooting.
• Hands‑on experience with racking, cabling and connecting hardware in data‑centres.
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., MCSE/MCSA, Azure Administrator, RHCSA, VCP5‑CMA, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Dell Systems Administrator, Disaster Recover Certified Specialist).
