IT Infrastructure Engineer I – Data Center Operations

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer I to keep the physical servers, network switches, and cabling in our data centers running smoothly. You will work on‑site in Belgium, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware while supporting major upgrade projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and deploy physical infrastructure supporting Google’s search and data‑center services.
• Install, configure, and repair servers, switches, routers, and other networking gear.
• Diagnose hardware failures, perform component‑level repairs, and ensure optimal server conditions.
• Participate in large‑scale facility upgrades and new equipment roll‑outs.
• Provide on‑call support and work 24/7 shift schedules as required.

Required profile

• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer and server hardware.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical/electrical assembly and component‑level repairs.
• Familiarity with networking protocols and ability to lift up to 23 kg.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience (preferred).
• At least 4 years of experience maintaining server systems (preferred).
