Intern - European Competition Practice

About the role

Charles River Associates is a global consulting firm advising law firms, corporations and governments on economic and financial matters for litigation and regulatory proceedings. Its European Competition practice gives economic advice on competition policy and regulation, covering mergers, abuse of dominance, cartels, restrictive agreements, market investigations, litigation, IP and state aid. This paid internship mirrors the full-time analyst role, works closely with senior staff on projects across industries and lasts typically three to six months with flexible start dates.

Key responsibilities

• Identify potential issues and carry out analyses that illustrate economic arguments
• Gather evidence from data and research supporting expert opinions and recommendations
• Build models and run regression analyses in statistical software such as Stata, Python or R, including large data projects using cloud computing
• Help develop and present client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
• Explain complex economic concepts to internal teams clearly
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions

Required profile

• Economics Master's or PhD/DPhil student, with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably industrial economics and/or econometrics
• Fluent English
• Research experience and a clear interest in consulting

Required skills

• High numeracy and ability to manipulate data
• Oral and written communication, teamwork and time management
• Stata, Python or R for statistical analysis
