Interim Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for an Interim Legal Counsel to provide high‑quality legal support to our operational departments in Brussels. The role focuses on contract review, legal analysis and advice while monitoring the evolution of Belgian banking and financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of four Legal Advisors specialized in payments, taxation, GDPR and civil law.
• Organise the distribution of legal files and ensure the consistency and quality of deliverables.
• Monitor changes in Belgian banking law, the Code of Economic Law and related consumer‑credit regulations.
• Propose pragmatic, solution‑oriented interpretations of new and existing regulations.
• Coordinate the implementation of impactful regulations together with the Head of Legal & Compliance.
• Support the professional development of team members and promote skill growth.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in law, preferably with specialization or experience in banking law, economic law or credit law.
• Proven ability to lead and support a small legal team.
• Strong analytical skills and a pragmatic approach to regulatory challenges.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Belgian banking and financial regulations.
• Familiarity with the Code of Economic Law (mortgage loans, consumer credits, commercial practices).
• Experience in contract review and legal advisory for operational units.
