Head of Orthopaedics – Lead Equine Veterinarian

About the role

Via Nova is seeking an experienced equine orthopaedic veterinarian to lead its Orthopaedic Department. This senior clinical leadership role combines a high‑level caseload of sport‑horse lameness and performance cases with the opportunity to shape departmental strategy and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex lameness, orthopaedic and performance‑related cases.
• Lead and develop the Orthopaedic Department, setting clinical standards and evidence‑based protocols.
• Collaborate closely with diagnostic imaging, surgery and internal medicine teams.
• Mentor veterinarians and interns, fostering a multidisciplinary environment.
• Build strong relationships with clients, trainers and referring veterinarians.
• Contribute to the clinic’s strategic growth and service expansion.

Required profile

• Established equine clinician with extensive orthopaedic, lameness or sports‑medicine experience.
• Board‑eligible or diplomate status (ECVS, ECVSMR, ACVS, ACVSMR) or equivalent internationally recognised expertise.
• ISELP certification or comparable qualification.
• Proven leadership, communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Lameness assessment and orthopaedic diagnostics.
• Operation of standing MRI and large‑bore CT equipment.
• Development of evidence‑based clinical protocols.
