Global Medical Affairs Director – Hepatology

About the role

The Global Medical Affairs Director for Hepatology will shape and execute the worldwide medical strategy across the product lifecycle, driving patient‑centred outcomes. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams in medical affairs, evidence generation, R&D, regulatory and market access to deliver impactful medical plans.

Key responsibilities

• Understand local operating company needs while thinking globally, partnering with LOC teams to align on market value drivers and timelines.
• Integrate insights from above‑country and country colleagues to inform global medical plans and lifecycle strategy.
• Engage with R&D, evidence generation, global product strategy and country teams to prioritize evidence gaps and support clinical care optimization.
• Participate in the Global Medical Asset Team (GMAT) to shape asset medical strategy.
• Lead creation and implementation of an integrated external medical communications plan covering publications, congresses and other channels.
• Partner with global product strategy, market access and country teams to advise on core claims.
• Ensure robust knowledge of emerging clinical evidence and support training through high‑quality scientific materials.
• Drive excellence in external stakeholder engagement (HCPs, patients, payors, regulators) worldwide.
• Oversee medical governance, risk assessment and mitigation for all deliverables.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with extensive experience in global medical affairs, preferably in hepatology.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and develop strategic medical plans.
• Strong understanding of evidence generation, scientific communication and regulatory environments.
• Excellent partnership and relationship‑building skills across global, regional and country teams.
