Functional Analyst – Data Engineering & Governance

About the role

The Functional Analyst acts as the architect of requirements, bridging business ambitions and technical delivery. You will translate complex data needs into clear specifications that guide engineers in building robust data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic requirement engineering: analyse, challenge and refine business needs into high‑quality functional specifications.
• Architect the data foundation: design conceptual and logical data models that are scalable and ready for modern warehousing.
• Source‑to‑target blueprinting: create detailed mapping specifications, ensuring clear data lineage and transformation logic.
• Methodological excellence: apply Data Vault 2.0 (or Kimball) techniques to build agile, auditable data structures.
• Quality & acceptance ownership: define acceptance criteria, execute test scripts and report results.
• Governance advisory: embed privacy, quality and compliance standards with data‑governance specialists.
• Empower the squad: provide continuous technical support to developers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2‑6 years of experience in functional analysis or a data‑centric consulting role.
• Proven expertise in conceptual and logical data modeling; knowledge of Data Vault or Kimball is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud data‑warehousing platforms such as Snowflake or Azure Synapse.
• Comfortable working in Scrum teams; Product Owner or Scrum Master certifications valued.
• Experience with data‑governance tools like Collibra or Alation is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills in English (additional languages a plus).
