Full‑time Academic Position in Interpreting

About the role

UCLouvain is recruiting a full‑time academic in Interpreting for its Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Letters and the Institute for Language and Communication. The role involves teaching, research and community service within the Social Sciences and Humanities sector.

Key responsibilities

• Teach interpreting courses (interpreting studies, ethics, conference interpreting, etc.) in master programmes and supervise internships and theses.
• Develop and lead research programmes in conference, community, legal or crisis interpreting for spoken and sign languages, and supervise PhD theses.
• Participate in institutional service activities such as programme committees, examination committees and faculty management.

Required profile

• PhD in Interpreting Studies (spoken and/or sign languages).
• Proven university teaching record with formal evaluations and international‑standing publications.
• Experience abroad or extended stay outside the awarding institution; professional interpreting experience is an asset.
• Fluency in French and English; ability to teach interpreting into French.

Required skills

• Ability to integrate research results into teaching.
• Capability to conduct high‑level scientific research, obtain funding and manage research teams.
