Freelance Senior Accountant (Waregem)

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Waregem on a flexible basis. The role involves overseeing the full spectrum of accounting activities, ensuring compliance with Belgian regulations, and delivering accurate financial information to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations and maintain the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Handle VAT declarations and other tax‑related filings in accordance with Belgian law.
• Reconcile bank statements and verify account balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting standards and coordinate with auditors.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a comparable finance role.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting and VAT regulations.
• Ability to work independently, proactively and meet deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent communication in Dutch and English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• ERP/accounting software proficiency.
