Freelance SAP Platform Expert – Authorization & Security

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance SAP Platform Expert to lead the standardisation of SAP authorisation management for a large Belgian organisation. The focus is on building an audit‑ready authorisation framework, reducing elevated privileges, and tightening Emergency User Procedures (EUP) across a multi‑system SAP landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct an AS‑IS analysis of current authorisation usage and EUP accounts.
• Identify gaps and determine which activities can run with standard dialog authorisations.
• Perform gap analyses on the authorisation concept, including missing roles and objects.
• Design, document and roll out a unified, secure authorisation process with a strengthened EUP.
• Optimise authorisation and EUP usage, aiming to minimise SAP_ALL / SAP_NEW and improve traceability.

Required profile

• Deep technical understanding of SAP authorisation processes and Emergency User Procedures.
• Strong knowledge of established authorisation concepts and tooling.
• Experience analysing SAP user statistics and usage patterns.
• Proficiency in ABAP authorisation concepts across S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, SRM, CRM and BTP.
• Excellent documentation skills and collaborative communication.
• Experience working with Jira.
• Fluent in English and at least one of Dutch, French or German.
