FPGA Engineer - Avionics

About the role

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites and earth observation services, using FPGA-based units such as on-board computers, software-defined radios, image sensors, optical transceivers and network switches. It is looking for an FPGA Engineer to design and validate RTL code for these units, within an agile team working on a specific unit.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and define the FPGA design architecture from system requirements
• Design, simulate, integrate and test RTL code
• Write and test software driver code
• Write technical documentation, testbenches and on-target test procedures
• Work with PCB designers, embedded software engineers and, depending on the project, RF, optical or network engineers

Required profile

• MSc, PhD in Computer, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent through experience
• Knowledge of RTL languages (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog)
• Knowledge of C and Python
• Good English and excellent verbal and written skills
• Comfortable in a lab environment, using power supplies, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers

Required skills

• RTL simulation with Questasim, Makefile, Python, TCL
• On-target testing with Embedded-C, Embedded-Linux, FreeRTOS, Python
• CI/CD with GitLab and Docker
• Version control; understanding of synthesis, place & route and software/hardware interaction

Nice to have: C or Python, continuous integration, digital signal or image processing, Embedded-Linux, high-speed transceivers, PCIe or network interfaces, DDR memory interfaces, PCB design.
